Saharsh Shwethan and Nikhil Mudaliar scored unbeaten half-centuries to lead the Raptors’ successful chase after their bowlers had restricted Atlanta to a modest total. Shwethan made 51 off 40 balls, while Mudaliar finished 52 not out from 39 deliveries as Morrisville completed the chase with 33 balls to spare.
Nikhil Mudaliar and Saharsh Shwethan scored unbeaten half-centuries to guide Morrisville Raptors to a nine-wicket victory over Atlanta Lightning.

Atlanta, batting first after Morrisville won the toss and elected to bowl, struggled to build sustained partnerships against a disciplined bowling attack.

Chandrapaul Hemraj top-scored with 27 off 25 balls, hitting three fours, while wicketkeeper Abdulahad Malek contributed 21 from 21 deliveries. Kashyap Prajapati added 16 off 21 balls, but Atlanta lost wickets at regular intervals and were unable to accelerate consistently.

Hemraj and Prajapati provided some resistance in the middle order, but their dismissals left Atlanta needing a late-innings contribution to reach a competitive total. Malek’s departure at 85-5 in 14.4 overs further increased the pressure.

Saif Badar was run out for six, and Soaeb Tai fell for 10 as Atlanta slipped to 112-8. Amila Aponso struck two boundaries in his 13 off nine balls before being run out at 112-7, while Phani Simhadri was dismissed for four on the final ball of the innings.

Atlanta finished on 120-9, with extras contributing 13 runs.

Ritvik Appidi and Ekamnoor Sandhu claimed two wickets each for Morrisville. Appidi conceded 26 runs in four overs, while Sandhu returned figures of 2-25. George Baldwin took 1-22, and Ansh Rai picked up 1-23. Jacobus Pienaar bowled four overs for 19 runs.

The Raptors’ reply began with Mukhtar Ahmed making 12 off nine balls before he was caught by Simhadri off Jagdish Narisetty at 26-1 in 2.6 overs.

That proved to be Atlanta’s only breakthrough. Shwethan and Mudaliar then took control, combining for an unbeaten second-wicket stand that carried Morrisville to victory.

Both batters struck seven fours, with Mudaliar scoring at 133.33 and Shwethan at 127.50. Their composed approach ensured the Raptors maintained a steady scoring rate without losing another wicket.

Narisetty was Atlanta’s only successful bowler, taking 1-24 from two overs. The remaining bowlers were unable to break the partnership as Morrisville reached the target in 14.3 overs.

The result gives Morrisville a nine-wicket victory in the Minor League Cricket South competition, while Atlanta will look to address their batting difficulties in their remaining matches. The scorecard does not provide the teams’ standings or remaining fixtures, so the wider impact on qualification remains unclear.
