Heath Richards scored an unbeaten 58 off 37 balls to guide Ft. Lauderdale Lions to a four-wicket victory over Orlando Galaxy.
The Lions won the toss and elected to bowl, but Chanderpaul and Powell put together the innings’ defining stand after an early setback.
Romario King was dismissed for a duck in the opening over, caught by wicketkeeper Mario Rampersaud off Atish Gawand, leaving Orlando at 5-1 after 0.4 overs. Chanderpaul and Powell responded with a substantial partnership that carried the Galaxy to 145-2 before Powell departed in the 18th over.
Powell made 66 from 50 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 132. His dismissal at 145-2 in 17.1 overs was followed by Chanderpaul’s departure at 160-3 in the 20th over.

Orlando added 26 runs after Powell’s dismissal, reaching 171-4. Atish Gawand and Aditya Padala took one wicket each for the Lions, while Padala conceded 26 runs from four overs.
The chase began with Raunaq Sharma falling for six, caught lbw to Aaryan Boddupally, before Rampersaud made 14 from nine balls. Christopher Van Tull scored 25 off 15 deliveries, including three fours and a six, but his dismissal at 68-3 in 6.3 overs left the Lions needing a substantial contribution from the middle order.
Chinmay Kushare provided momentum with 33 from 17 balls, striking five fours and a six. He and Richards helped move the score to 85-4 before Kushare was caught by Varadarajan off Chanderpaul in the ninth over.
Richards then guided the chase alongside Mohib Ahsan, who scored 29 from 23 balls, including two fours and a six. Their partnership took the Lions past the halfway mark of the target and established control before Ahsan was caught by Orrington Hamilton off Manav Patel at 137-5 in 15.6 overs.
Richards remained unbeaten as the Lions completed the chase, with Aditya Padala contributing four not out from six balls. Chanderpaul finished with 2-20 from four overs, while Patel and Boddupally took one wicket each.
The result gives Ft. Lauderdale Lions a victory in the South League, while Orlando Galaxy’s substantial first-innings total was not enough to prevent defeat. Richards’ unbeaten innings proved decisive in a successful chase completed with eight balls remaining.
